RHK UHV VT Scanning Tunneling Microscope
Our RHK Technology STM is equipped with a flow LHe cryostat and mounted in an ultra high vacuum system designed by NanoFabrik. The vibration isolation system is a custom Newport air suspension system mounted triaxially. The STM is based on a "Besoke" scanner. Using cryostats and heating filaments for temperature control we can achieve a temperature range of 10 K to 1000 K.

The RHK UHV VT STM. Our system is equipped with refurbished rev. 8 electronics and the spm 32 software. However, control system computers have been upgraded as has the display boards, allowing for seamless integration of digital image processing and fast analogue feedback.
Early work on this system involved the application of tunneling spectroscopy to atomically resolved supported nanostructures.

Today our interests have been in the application of such techniques to 2D topologically complex systems. Specifically, this instrument has been central to the development of FT STM / STS methods as analogues to local ARPES measurements.
